Freddie Bitsoie (Diné), executive chef of the Mitsitam Native Foods Café and the Embassy of Peru’s chef Elmer Gutiérrez will share the stories and food traditions that sustained and continue to support the diverse peoples of the area. Visit the Mitsitam Café to purchase food and drinks from this specialty menu including:
Chicha morada, a purple Peruvian corn drink,
Lomo saltado, a beef stir fry with peppers, onions, and rice,
Causa, a chili-flavored potato, and
Picarones, doughnuts made with squash and sweet potato
The Peruvian Brothers will have a specialty menu showcasing the flavors and generosity of the Peruvian coast, where they grew up. Firenzes Gelateria will have a selection of gelato and sorbet available showcasing traditional Andean flavors.
Between dining, visitors can enjoy the music of RAYMI, an Andean group playing traditional instruments. Explore the exhibition The Great Inka Road after hours with special talks from museum staff about farming and cooking along the Inka Road, and the engineering behind the stunning suspension bridges that allow travelers to move food along the Inka Road to this day.
